About Burfi

Burfi or Barfi is a classic indian dessert popular throughout Indian subcontinent. It is made from milk and is similar to spiced Indian version of cheese cake or fudge.

 Ingredients

1 cup khoya or khoa (alternate: unsalted ricotta cheese)
½ cup ghee (clarified butter)
½ cardamom powder
2 cup sugar

 Preparation
1 Mix ricotta cheese, sugar and cardamom.
2 Slowly fry the ricotta cheese mixture with ghee in low heat till golden color and get consistent paste.
3 Pour the same in greased plate and cut it in the 8 diamond shape.
4 Serve chilled.

Use less sugar than you normally want in dessert to cut down on calories. You can also use sugar substitute splenda but it may give you a slightly different taste.
